Kühl Wheels: TESTING VALIDATES DESIGN CONCEPTS

Los Gatos, CA — Epilogics is pleased to announce successful completion of its first Kühl Wheels testing. The dynamic cornering fatigue test, the first in a series of planned tests, verified design rules and validated Epilogics finite element analysis (FEA) models.

because they demonstrate the FEA analysis demonstrates that peak stresses in the light weight Kühl Wheel design are comparable to those in heavier conventional steel wheels.

This patent pending technology saves weight with a unique spider (center section) design which is comprised of a series of spokes with a rectangular cross section. Utilizing standard steel rims, Kühl Wheel prototypes weighed in at 20% less than conventional steel wheels. In motion, the center section, or spider, seems to disappear due to its airy design. This arrangement also offers greater flexibility in wheel trim design over conventional steel wheels.

Founded in 1988, The Epilogics Group develops products based on its proprietary, patented technologies, and licenses these technologies to manufacturers in the automotive industry. Best known for its Mechanical DiodeÒ one-way clutch which is now in high volume production under license to Means Industries, Inc., Epilogics is now seeking licensees to commercialize its new Kühl Wheels technology.
