Kühl Wheels: PASS ONE MILLION CYCLES IN RADIAL STRESS TEST
Los Gatos, CA Epilogics is pleased to announce that its new, light weight steel wheel continues to survive rigorous testing. The Kühl Wheel endured one million cycles in radial stress tests which is twice the SFI specification and comparable to production OEM wheels. Designed for the Lincoln Town Car, the Kühl Wheel prototype was subjected to 3,375 lbf.
This success comes on the heels of last weeks cornering fatigue test in which Kühl Wheels matched the durability of conventional steel wheels. Additional test data can be obtained by contacting Epilogics.
Epilogics plans to continue its evaluation of Kühl Wheels with impact tests and vehicle trials in the next few months. A 1998 Lincoln Town Car was selected as the test vehicle because of its size, weight, and drivetrain (rear wheel drive). Coincidentally, this production vehicle utilizes another Epilogics-developed technology, the Mechanical DiodeÒ one-way clutch.
Founded in 1988, The Epilogics Group develops products based on its proprietary, patented technologies, and licenses these technologies to manufacturers in the automotive industry. Epilogics is now seeking licensees to commercialize its new Kühl Wheels technology.
