HAYES LEMMERZ INTERNATIONAL LICENSES Kühl Wheels TECHNOLOGY

Los Gatos, CA — Epilogics is pleased to announce that Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc., the world's largest supplier of automotive wheels, has licensed the Kühl Wheels technology. Hayes plans to supply its OEM customers with lightweight steel wheels for automobile designs where reduced unsprung weight at little or no cost penalty is desirable. Production-intent prototype projects for Hayes customers, General Motors and Ford, head the list of current Kühl Wheels activities for Hayes. Hayes believes that Kühl Wheels can be produced using a low-cost stamping process for the new one-piece spider design.

Developed as the alternative steel wheel, the Kühl Wheel is approximately 20% lighter and more stylized than conventional steel wheels. Weight is reduced with a unique spider (center section) design comprised of a series of rectangular spokes.

Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc. (NYSE: HAZ), with the completion of its acquisition of CMI International, is one of the world's leading global suppliers of automotive and commercial highway wheels, brakes, suspension, structural and other light weight components. Together, the company has pro forma sales of close to $2.5 billion with 40 plants, 11 joint venture facilities and over 15,000 employees worldwide.

Founded in 1988, The Epilogics Group develops products based on proprietary, patented technologies, and licenses these technologies to manufacturers in the automotive industry.
